iGreen Gadgets - A Solution to the Environmental Damage Caused by Discarded Phone Covers
Category Engineering Monday - October 23 2023, 17:09 UTC - 1 year ago iGreen gadgets is a company offering a variety of products which have a seed inside them, allowing them to sprout into flowers or plants after their primary use is complete. The most well known product is the iPhone cover which has three colors and uses biodegradable materials. The company has been providing environmentally friendly products and raising awareness for their mission of respect for nature since 2008.
iGreen gadgets was exhibiting at Maker Faire Rome 2023, showcasing the only iPhone cover that you can plant after you are finished using it to see flowers and plants emerge from it. The process is simple: just put the discarded product in soil and add water and sunlight. The company explained that the gadget’s constituent parts contain seeds, which will disperse after being buried in soil and proceed to grow into full-blown plants and flowers .
It is offered in three colors: green ("basil"), light blue ("forget me not"), and yellow ("daisy"), and is entirely made in Italy. Because they are natural and Compost Home certified, the materials that make up the gadget are completely biodegradable and compostable. But the iGreen phone cover isn’t the only product that sprouts after its use is done. Luca Guerri, a representative with the company, told IE at the event: "Every product has a seed that allows them to grow into flowers or plants once they are done with their primary use .
.. basically, there are many different types of plants - just add water and sun!" "The business started about 10 years ago with just a couple products and now we make over 50 products." This includes everything from pencils to furniture to plantable postcards and beach towels. Some of the uses of these products are as gifts for special events, fairs and congresses for brand advertising. They can also be used for wedding favors .
Andrea Mullineris, the founder of the company, said on his Maker Fair Rome profile that his life-long dream was always to realize a project that supported and protected the environment. "iGreen idea was born in 2008, after my first communication project for Comune di Torino, which was a supply of portable ashtrays meant to sensitize people about the environmental damage made by cigarette butts," he said .
