Category Technology Tuesday - February 13 2024, 20:03 UTC - 9 months ago Hynix, a major semiconductor company, saw significant growth in sales of AI memory products in Q4 2023. This was accompanied by cost-cutting measures to improve efficiency. Despite a decrease in overall revenue, the company proactively responded to the demand for AI technology and saw significant growth in sales of premium products. They also maintained a conservative production stance and focused on investment and cost efficiency in a challenging market.
In the fourth quarter of 2023, Hynix, a leading semiconductor company, saw significant growth in sales of AI memory products. This was fueled by the increasing demand for AI technology in various industries.
In addition to expanding their sales, Hynix also implemented cost-cutting measures to improve efficiency and reduce expenses. This included a decrease in capital expenditures by over 50%, as well as minimizing operational expenditures.
Despite these efforts, the company's consolidated revenue decreased by KRW 11.9 trillion year-over-year (YoY), and they recorded an operating loss. This was largely due to a sharp drop in memory prices, which hit the industry as a whole.
However, Hynix proactively responded to the surging demand for AI products by rapidly increasing sales of premium products such as DDR5 HDM and HBM3. As a result, sales of DDR5 and HBM3 grew by more than four and five times YoY, respectively.
Overall, Hynix maintained a conservative production stance and focused on investment and cost efficiency in the face of a challenging demand environment. Despite the obstacles, their focus on AI memory products and cost cutting measures proved successful in driving growth and maintaining competitiveness in the market.
